Enterprise hardware refreshes every three to five years, and AI is shortening that cycle. The largest capital buildout in modern computing is, on a defined timetable, the largest incoming stream of high-grade recoverable material the industry has seen.
AI infrastructure is now a primary driver of global copper and precious metals demand, at a moment when new mines take a decade or more to build. Recovery is the only lever that works on the timescale of the buildout: metal from a decommissioned rack re-enters the supply chain in weeks – and unlike exploration, refresh cycles are known years in advance.
